FROZEN thread, just Let It Go.

Post by shezaei-neko on Sun Mar 16, 2014 12:40 am

There's so much to discuss and say about this movie that I was wondering why no one had created this thread yet, since it has a lot of potential.
So, here you have it: The Frozen's official thread in the forum.

One of the greatest movies I've watched in a while from Disney. When I thought Disney couldn't surprise me anymore or go out from their zone, the showed me this amazing piece.

It just smashed all the fairy tales and princess cliches we've been watching over and over again, and to me that spoke volumes of it's improvement in many ways.

There's so much we can discuss about this movie.

One question that has been around in my mind recently is: Why Elsa's parents didn't try a different approach to her powers and to Anna? I mean, yeah, maybe that would have caused no plot at all for the movie or a different turn out. But still, it makes me wonder.
Anna was never afraid of her sister's powers, she even thought they were amazing.

Let's talk about all what you feel about this movie. Just remember to be respectful and no bashing please.

LET IT GO!!

I have so much to say about this movie that I don't know where to begin. I haven't been this devoted over a Disney movie since Finding Nemo. I did like Tangled and Brave, but this one seemed to hit home for me. I didn't have any siblings growing up but I have always wanted a a sister who would be just like Elsa or even Anna. I mean, I have a step-brother now but I don't think that counts??

Anyway, the relationship between Elsa and Anna is dynamic and powerful and I think that is what I like about them. The years they spent apart were hard on both of them but once the film ended, it seemed like their bond was much stronger. Elsa was confident and became more understanding of her powers and wanted to protect her sister. Anna became stronger because she was determined to not let her sister leave and go away. She wanted to be with Elsa no matter what.

Also, who doesn't love the chemistry between those two??? I just picture them everyday eating mounds of chocolate and other goodies, have balls and other events.  Even just running around in the castle. I really hope that we get to see a day in the life of some kind between these two.

Then there is Olaf. I think he became one of my favorite character just because of one little line. "Some people are worth melting for." It wasn't because of his silliness...(actually that was some of it too) But that line really struck a cord to me. It made me realize some things that I never thought about before.

Anyway, that is my little rant for right now :D

I'm going to share my merchandise with all of you! I just got these yesterday and I hope that I can find more!

^ Already got my copy!  devious

I enjoyed Frozen. It's a fun film with a lot of CG animation majesty. Granted, I'm not a fan of CG animation all that much since the characters don't present as much lively emotion and character as they would in traditional 2D animation. That said, the CG animation is top notch in Frozen, using the best team available at Disney to make sure all 2,000 of so snowflakes generated for the film would produce a more realistic presentation. The kingdom of Arendelle and the mountain areas in general are wonderful, the cinematography captures these locations in grand scope. The characters are a lot of fun, although the most important characters aren't given much to do like Queen Elsa (voiced by the "WICKEDly talented" Idina Menzel), who is a modern Disney female in all regards. Her story can be interpreted as loneliness, being different and even homosexual. Her sister Anna (voiced by Veronica Mars, Kristen Bell) gets a lot of screen time, but rather than explore the development of a princess braving dangers on her own, we have Kristoff (voiced by Broadway talent, Jonathan Groff) guiding her as a tamer and more humble Eugene who's in love with his reindeer Sven. And then there's Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), who I have to admit, has the worst character design ever. Olaf, imo, should of been...goofy cute. Not just goofy. He's useless yes, but his character is so likable like the warm hugs he goes on and on about. The music is fantastic (except for that fixer-upper song by the Trolls that sounds a lot like the Fragglerock theme) and Idina Menzel nails it out of the park with "Let It Go", easily one of the best songs ever produced. There's a Broadway quality to the vocals (some of the voice talents WERE/ARE in Broadway!) and the melodies in each song; what a tremendous joy to listen to.

After my YouTube review with Jenna and Alex, I did give it a solid Matinee rating. It's not the greatest Disney film or one of the best in recent years. It's still behind Tangled in terms of wide appeal and Princess and the Frog in terms of imagination and grit. Speaking of grit, Frozen had the potential to be a darker story. Tangled played it very safe after the underrated masterpiece of Princess and the Frog, so Frozen didn't have any excuses to lighten the tone after Elsa established herself as a free woman. And don't get me started on Hans; another reason to drive more wedges between men and women. The guy is boring, beaten in one punch by Anna and isn't very memorable compared to the likes of Ursula, Gaston or Frollo.

It's no Pinocchio (a movie that captures reality perfectly without the topic of romance) or Hunchback of Notre Dame. I don't think Frozen is even on the same level as the tops from the Golden Age and the Renaissance, though I do rate it higher than Hercules. However, Frozen is a knock out as a musical and visual adventure with incredible talented at the helm.

Best non-musical scene: Oaken getting big on Kristoff. I laughed endlessly.

Best songs:

For The First Time in Forever

Let It Go

I'll have photos of my other Frozen merchandise soon.  Viola

I have to post this here! This is the best coloring book ever! I got it the other day and have been messing around with photoshop with them! I do have to apologize that my scanner isn't big enough to scan the whole picture. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this new Frozen coloring book!! I know I do.

I also would like to add that i'm on a mission to find Elsa, Olaf and Anna merchandise! It's so hard because I don't have a Disney store near me. I would have to drive 3 hours to a Disney store to get them and Walmart is just....not working out for me.

Well, I recently watched the BD and FROZEN it one of those movies that doesn't feel slow paced to me and makes me think: "when will it get to the part I like?" or "when will this scene be over?"
I enjoyed it a lot. Much more in English than in Spanish.

Yeah, Disney may have played it safe with Frozen, but still it is a great piece. Disney is recovering it's former glory step by step.

I'm the opposite. It has to do with wanting Elsa to have more involvement in the story. It's rare to see the most 3-dimensional character in anything to take a backseat. Haven't seen that since Kagura from Inuyasha. <3

On top of that, Frozen's strong rehash of Tangled also hurt the film for me. Anna asking Kristoff to take her from point A to point B felt too much like Rapunzel and Eugene's short trip to the kingdom.

It's a great film regardless, but I would be lying if I said any scenes involving the rock trolls or Hans weren't fast forward worthy.

I could gush about the movie endlessly. But I believe everybody's tired of it already.
The only points of the story that could use some improvement to be able to establish Frozen as a masterpiece in every way for me was cutting out the fantastic song (and therefore scene) on the prophecy. Also most of the cut out songs give us a very in depth look on the princesses personalities. Give us a little more of Elsa I suppose... She is actually very playful and loves to tease but we're given very little of her. I would have liked the songs to have been animated as extras at least. Oh and... Olaf's song... nice and goofy but should have been shortened, it completely takes you away from the mood and you get back to reality during it easily.

I see a lot of people coming down on the trolls (cough-my-friends-that-wouldn't-shut-up-midmovie-n-i-wanted-to-smack-them-cough). But you forget this happens in Norway, trolls are your daily plate in Scandinavia and yes, they are usually made of stone or at least turn into it whenever they please or the sun is out. And yeah, they are generally magical creatures.
We grow up and learn much of the mythology Disney uses and so it doesn't look weird or out of place since we almost expect it or can predict it. But Scandinavia is very rich in its own mythology and this is pretty much run of the mill for them. And now that the movie is out and so big, a lot of the people will assimilate this knowledge and apply it to the future.

They really went to Norway and did some serious studying, the scenery, the clothes, the setting, the mythology, and even the animals are all from the areas they wanted to portray. There are so many details and little findings that you can discover every time you watch the movie. My personal favorite: Oaken's family! Kudos for a hunky husband and tons of kids!

The HD gifs and jpegs people now can share are to die for. The detail of things is crazy!! When you can just from looking at the texture tell each materials their clothes are made of... see the stitching and even see loose strings of wool of Anna's gloves... Loose strands of hair on neat hairstyles... And see pilling, PILLING on Anna's cape... Oh hell... #animationporn

Speaking of which... Has anyone noticed particularly when Elsa releases her braid some animator actually animated her boobs jiggling? Oh yeah! My dvd can't arrive fast enough!

Merch wise, I'm waiting for my Frozen Art Book!! My DVD! And my awesome teefury tee "winter is coming"!!

PS.: It is now officially the highest grossing animated movie of all time. And the 10th most profitable movie.

Bullocks... I ended up gushing all the same... Well it is now my favorite movie though. The shippers need a chill pill though!

So, I haven't seen the entire Frozen movie yet, but I have seen a good bit of it. My sister is obsessed with the movie and the song "Let It Go." She's the reason I even got to see the movie at all. When I saw it being played at the house, I admittedly had my eyes glued to the television screen until the ending credits.

I'm not usually into musicals and in fact I have a reputation for disliking them strongly, but I think Frozen may be an exception since I kept watching it. I especially liked the ending, which had a twist I did not expect, though the "antagonist" for the movie didn't have me shaking in my boots in terror. Actually, the only antagonist/villain to do that isn't from a movie but a television series and it'd be off topic to mention her here.

So, anyhow, I'm going to be watching Frozen on a nearly 8-hour car trip and who knows how many times my sister will want it re-played? But yes, I am now part of the group of people who have seen Frozen. My favorite part of the movie is actually the song "Let It Go."

Nice to see more fans of it!  Elsa  Not at all surprised, it's contemporary as Hell. "Let It Go" is my favorite part too, but in my second viewing, I see it as compensation for lack of Elsa in the next 20 or so minutes.
