Candy Boy Discussion

Post by Grawrr on Fri Jan 04, 2013 11:29 pm

I'm really surprised there isn't a fandom dedicated to Candy Boy.
I also was forced against my will by Luu Sky Sapphire to make this. Razz

For those who don't know about Candy Boy, it's implied Yuri nothing explicit happens.

(source: Wiki)
Yukino and Kanade Sakurai, twin sisters and native from Hokkaido, move together to a student residence in Tokyo to attend high school leaving their younger sister, Shizuku "Shi-chan" with their parents. Sakuya Kamiyama, a first year student, seeks out and stalks Kanade, saying that she's in love with her and will do anything to be with her, she pays Yukino with candies in exchange of photos and personal stuff of her sister. Kanade finds that the once so close relationship between Yukino and her starts to fall apart.

The Anime: There are 7 episodes, 0 is counted as an episode, so I suppose technically 8. There are also 2 OVAs. A total of 10 episodes. Unfortunately, the episode length ranges from 10-15 minutes, not very long at all, but still enjoyable and rather entertaining.

The Manga: Two volumes, so 11 chapters in total, though everywhere I look it says on-going. On wiki it says complete. It's been awhile since I last read the Manga, so I don't recall how/if it's similar to the Anime. I'll have to re-read it again.

There is also a manga called Candy Boy 〜Young girls fall in love!〜 which follows the lives of Sakuya Kamiyama, and her classmates.

That's probably why most people don't venture into Candy Boy. I, for one enjoy the forbidden, and I am very open-minded about it.

I will say that other than ShizNat, these two are my next favorite. :D

Oho, you have done it! I dindn't expected it Wink Well, leave this alone...
Yes, I'm just thinking like you, but they are at 3rd place in my fav. Yuri/Shoujo-Ai- Animes. And,I don't care how many episodes there are of them. Well, the manga IS like the anime. Well, and Candy Boy ~Young Girls fall in love~ is funny. Sakuya fell I love with Isako. Well, in the first chapters is it not conspicuous, but the last chapter they are....!(I'm not goin to spoiler, so read it yourself)

I like the characters, Yukino and Kanade are pretty cute together and it's a pretty entertaining anime, even if it's only short. But, I can't ignore the fact that they're sisters...I tried, but I couldn't >_>;

I do like it, but it's not what I'd call a favourite :3

Candy Boy is so adorable. But I kinda feel the same way that Koi does... incest isn't really my thing, but I try to get over it/ over look it when I was watching the anime and reading the manga. I guess it might be a favorite of mine.

The short length of the episodes always made me want to watch the next episode immediately, but I was frustrated at the same time by the length of the episodes and the anime.

From what I've read of the manga online, it kinda of stopped at an awkward time, which makes me think that it's on-going, but I'm completely sure.

It's been a while since I've read it, but I thought that it was pretty close to the anime. But it's been a looooong time ^_^;

To each their own.

A lot of people couldn't get over the fact they are sisters. And really, I can't blame them. When I first heard about it I was like 0_o ...? But I am very open minded about a lot of things, so I thought why not!? :D
I really loved this anime it was short, but sweet. I enjoyed it all. The forbidden love thing just calls to me, add the fact they are sisters it just made it better. I only hoped they would've made more episodes, but I'm happy at were it ends, so it's fine.

I remember bits and pieces of the Manga, but not much I thought it best to not include anything just in case I put the wrong thing. My memory is horrible >_< I do remember it stopping at a awkward time, just not quite sure of the details. I'll definitely have to re-read it. :D

XD It looks like the controversy surrounding their relationship has already been discussed, so I'll add my two cents. I'm open minded to some sort of degree. Candy Boy's lead girls do test some serious waters by having sisters in a gay relationship. One that we, the audience, have to believe is plausible for love's sake. Not lust (that was more like Kuttsukiboshi...).

Grawrr mentioned the forbidden love thing. Forbidden love for another woman thrilled a lot of young lesbians. It's rebellious and goes against grain. It may have consequences along the way obviously, yet they are willing to sacrifice anything for love.

Shizuru Kaichou <---- Just ask her.

*nods* Exactly, I'm sure if there was anything Explicit there would be major concerns about it, but there wasn't. I believe if you love someone regardless of who they are, it shouldn't matter. If you're happy, then that's all that should matter. As I always say "Whatever floats your boat." Though not many share this view, but like I said prior "To each their own." :D

I really enjoyed it!
I really never thought of them as sister, which made it better.
A nice slice-of-life yuri.
There aren't many out there, at least not animated...

Yay!! Mikoto Minagi
That's good, they don't look alike which makes it easier to do. XD
I agree, it sucks that there isn't. Cursed people need to animate more >__<

It's been a while since I looked this short anime.
I quite enjoyed it, even if Sakuya really got on my nerves !
Like ShezNek, the fact that they don't really look like each other (I think it's mostly due to the blond and dark hair color) helps.

However, as Zuka-chan says, I'm also kinda attracted by the forbidden love, I guess Razz

It does have a certain amount of appeal that 'forbidden love' business. :3

I watched Candy Boy for the coupling. I stayed only because the one twin reminds me of Kuga but with glasses and that was awesome.
