Diana vs. Kiyohime, the what ifs...

Post by shezaei-neko on Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:29 pm

Well, the idea for this thread came from another topic.

In here we are going to discuss what drove Yukino to fight Shizuru during that 'ShizuNatsu revelations' scene.
What was exactly going through Yukino's mind to even thought she had a chance against Shizuru?
Why didn't she run and hide with Haruka to protect her?
What if Natsuki had stopped Shizuru by kissing her then so Yukino could fly?
What would have happened if that 'battle' (if it can be called one) didn't take place?
How would that have affected the course of the carnival?

Let's share our theories and thoughts here, so maybe we can inspire someone to write a story about this. Razz

Let's start sharing!! Mikoto Minagi

QUICKLY! In Natsuki's defense before anyone says she was too cowardly to step in and stop Shizuru, please remember that she was overwhelmed by the idea of Shizuru threatening to kill HaruKino who just raped her during sleep. It may not be what actually happened, but this is what she's thinking. It's too much to take in for one day.

Now to the real issue, why didn't Yukino just run away? The basics point at Kikukawa-san trying to defend her precious friend Haruka Suzushiro, the very friend she's fallen in love with. However, why didn't Yukino play it smart by escaping with Haruka? Yukino is an emotional wreck who can't deal with such situations, so she acted recklessly out of her own love for Haruka.

If this confrontation never happened, I'm positive Yukino would of been defeated anyway by a lurking Mikoto in the long run. It would be a nice chance to see Haruka learning all about the HiME from Yukino, thus making a pledge to put an end to Shizuru's "evil ways". Whether or not this would lead Haruka to her death, Diana's fate would be no different than any CHILD that isn't Kagutsuchi.

Whether or not this would lead Haruka to her death, Diana's fate would be no different than any CHILD that isn't Kagutsuchi.

And, you have to remember that with this overdrive of information, everything was going far too quickly, the HiME Festival is something which starts off slowly but goes flying when near to the actual climax.

Yukino is someone who needs to absorb information slowly else she is going to be panicking all over the place (this was developed on in both the manga and anime of Otome).

Everyone knows the answer to what happens when you panic, everything becomes clouded and you're unable to register what is happening which adds onto the recklessness which Yukino shows during the Fujino vs. HaruKino.

Some people just aren't made for combat, either. Yukino is the perfect type of person to be behind the scenes, this being a perfect example of her HiME abilities and role as President in the Otome anime.

If Yukino and Haruka were to defeat Fujino however, this would take time, there would be a hell of a lot of undercover work along with needing help from the stronger HiME willing to aid them. e.g. Mai would definitely be placed into this role, perhaps Midori also.

As for Natsuki, I think she would have strayed from all of them, unable to believe what was happening - that, and she would've probably had nasty arguments with Fujino in the process (remember this is Natsuki, she is a person who can't stand seeing people hurt, and especially not by her own hand, she would've demanded everyone to stop, and since no one would listen to her, flea.

Not through being a coward, but because there was just no answer to follow. If there isn't an answer to something on the long or/and short run there is no point in even starting whatever it is.

So in reality Yukino and Natsuki are quite similar, they are determined and dedicated to protecting the people they love, but under strain they become baffled - unlike Fujino and Haruka whom go onto auto-drive.

As Luu said, more than likely Mikoto, since she was the "scout" of the Obsidian Lord eventually, and she would've been commanded to wipe the other HiME out.

Natsuki and Yukino do share similarities when defend the person they love, yes. The way the handle that personal task couldn't be anymore different; probably why I refer to them as opposites in other discussions. Natsuki had too much happening to her at the same time, you'd think she would of gone crazy. She must of been in her right mind, because she found time to change out of her yukata and walk down Fuuka streets in a depressed state. She could of just crawled into a corner in Shizuru's teahouse...

Even now, I have a feeling Mikoto's "scouting" was an orchestrated by the Obsidian Lord. If Mai were taken out of the Carnival (best of luck with that difficult task), he wouldn't get the predetermined bride her wanted. Overall I'm glad Wolvy agreed that defeating Fujino required a little more backup on Yukino's part. She had a cel phone, she could of easily called Mai or Midori. You could say Midori had an important task to reactivate Miyu, but she could of done that later. Didn't Mikoto follow her anyway? It's been a while, so I don't remember if Reito knew of Miyu and Midori's plan.

Precisely, so she probably did know about Midori's plan to reactivate Miyu. I love how hesitant Midori was when the time came. She was probably worried about a repeat of the SEARRS take over. She had no choice though, the Carnival called for desperate measures.
